Have you ever finished a survey and wondered what happens to your answers afterward? Sometimes, they help companies understand what people want. Other times, they contribute to something much bigger — like international scientific research.
And this time, the MultiPolls community helped make a difference.
From everyday surveys to global research
A team of 261 researchers, led by Professor Kai Ruggeri of Columbia University, recently published a major study exploring mental well-being around the world. The study included 53,799 participants from 92 countries, making it a remarkable international research effort.
But reaching people across so many countries wasn't easy.
In some regions, the researchers needed help finding enough participants. That's where Bohemian Research, the company behind MultiPolls, stepped in. Through its own survey applications and global user community, Bohemian Research helped connect the research team with people willing to share their experiences.
In total, 5,442 participants from 17 countries joined the research through Bohemian Research's survey platforms, including MultiPolls. That's thousands of people helping researchers better understand mental health across different countries and cultures.
So, what did researchers learn?
The study explored more than just depression or anxiety. It looked at how people feel about their lives, relationships, financial situations, and emotional well-being.
And some of the findings might surprise you.
Young people are struggling more than you might expect. Many younger adults reported challenges with their energy levels, emotional stability, and ability to cope with difficulties.
Money isn't everything. Living in a wealthy country didn't necessarily mean people reported better mental well-being.
Human connections matter. Personal relationships and having a sense of purpose stood out as important parts of psychological well-being. The results show why it's important to listen to people from different backgrounds rather than assuming everyone experiences life in the same way.
A little time, a bigger impact
Taking a survey might seem like a small thing. You open an app, answer a few questions, and move on with your day. But behind those questions, there may be researchers trying to understand something important.
Your opinions can help identify trends, challenge assumptions, and give researchers insights they wouldn't have otherwise. That's one of the things we love about the MultiPolls community: people from different parts of the world sharing their perspectives.
And we're happy that some of those perspectives have now contributed to published scientific research.
Thank you, MultiPolls community!
To everyone who participated in this study: thank you! Your time and answers helped support research into an issue that affects people around the world. We're proud that MultiPolls could play a part in this project, and even prouder of the people who made it possible.
Because your opinions aren't just answers on a screen. They can help us understand the world a little better.
